Daniel Hersheson salon, Conduit Street

When I think of Daniel Hersheson I think of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the stunning model with gorgeous hair pictured in many of the adverts for this fabulous salon. Hairdresser extraordinaire, Daniel Hersheson has gained epic success thanks to his talent and entrepreneurial spirit. The Daniel Hersheson brand has become very highly regarded with salons in Conduit Street and Harvey Nichols, and several additional blow dry bars.

Feeling very insecure about the shade of my newly blonde hair, I went along to try out the smart Conduit Street branch for a luxurious colour makeover and blow dry. It was a beautifully sunny, crisp December morning as I walked along Bond Street, I was hugely excited to be visiting this famous hairdresser’s boudoir. It was the day of my Christmas party and so the pressure was on for my stylists to create a suitably pretty hairstyle and colour. Understanding my dilemma about the yellowy tint to my blonde hair, my lovely stylist talked through a few options. I had brought along a photo of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and asked her to recreate a similar honey hue for me.

To start, my hair was covered with a dark blonde semi permanent colour all over. This was washed out after twenty minutes and my stylist used a new highlighting technique to add a natural glint into my hair. Balayage (from the French meaning 'to sweep') is a revolutionary new method, abandoning traditional foils in favour of simply painting colour onto the hair, resulting in less noticeable regrowth and a more subtle result. The secret success of Balayage comes from fading in the colour at the root, making it heavier through the lengths and then saturating the ends, if you haven’t tried it, I can highly recommend it.

The blow dry was the best bit… each stylist has a young helper who stands beside them handing out the utensils and assisting, I felt very special being pampered by two stylists at once! After flicking through some magazines, and spotting a particularly lovely fashion shoot with none other than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I decided to go for a sixties look, with big luscious curls framing my face. The styling was gloriously glamorous - I walked out feeling so dazzling I’m sure I had noticeable bounce in my step.

Daniel Hersheson is a divine salon where the hairdressers are true artists. As I had my hair dried, I sat next to Daniel who was immaculately cutting a client's hair, it was amazing to watch. It became clear that his salons have become renowned not just because of his talent but because of his drive and expertise.

Hot on the Highstreet Week 60

I have been addicted to WAH nails ever since I discovered their crazy nail art a few months back, so you can imagine my excitement when I found VIOLENT LIPS the temporary transfers, decorating your lips with wonderfully wacky designs.

Violent lips are ultra easy to use and are safe for ages 3+. The tattoos actually have vitamin enhancements in them and will last up to 8 hours depending on skin type and care. The product is FDA approved, contains no animal products and is tested on supermodels, not animals. Violent lips transfers can be removed by using baby oil or mineral oil with a textured wipe.

Jessie J wore the Union Jack look recently at a festival and ever since this patterned lips mania has grown and grown. Glitter, leopard, lace are all part of the Violent Lips collection of tattoos, in a massive range of colours. My current favourites are the glitter variety - sparkly all over glitter transfers in a range of colours that shimmer and add the wow factor to any outfit.

This month the wait for UK stockists is over as Harvey Nichols and other London shops will be selling these fabulous appliqués. I just wonder what face accessory will be next...

Hot on the Highstreet Week 23

This is the week to give your laptop some love and affection. Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs have brought out a collection of groovy accessories all on sale in Harvey Nichols in the M by MJ pop-up shop. The line includes headphones, keyrings and of course iPod and laptop cases, all in fabulous bright colours.

Now I know Marc Jacobs isn’t highstreet, and neither, strictly is the diffusion line (Marc by Marc Jacobs) but with prices as reasonable as these I think it qualifies for my Hot on the Highstreet feature. The laptop case comes in two sizes: 13 inch and 16 inch, priced at £35 and £45 respectively. The cover is made from thick, snug nylon and is imprinted with the MJ initials. Pretty cool me thinks.

I have a standard size MacBook Pro, that my brother assured me measures 13.3 inches. The smaller of the two size laptop cases fits my little computer perfectly. The cases come in a few colours: black, blue, yellow, pink... I of course got the pink. If you're a bit more of a techie and have already bagged yourself an ipad then there is the slick M by MJ cover available for that too. I’m afraid I could only find a picture of the blue version (see above), you’ll have to take my word for it, the pink is definitely the nicest!

Now it’s cold and wintry your laptop will need a coat too, get the Marc Jacobs case and I promise it will be the cutest computer in town... but hurry because the pop-up store is only around for a few weeks.

See here.

The Coolest Liquer in Town

CHAMBORD: A five-star liqueur, made with 'black raspberries' and other bramble fruits, infused in aged cognac. Perfect for dressing up desserts or sweetening a cocktail.

I spent Tuesday night at The Inaugural Chambord Rendezvous, chinking glasses with only the most experienced of cocktail drinkers. The decadent party at London’s Cafe de Paris celebrated this stylish drink. I was invited along! Edith Bowman was there playing a DJ set and Claudia Winkleman was hosting. Canapes and luxurious Chambord cocktails were served throughout the night.

I had a special new frock for the occasion, a beautiful dark pink ‘hammered satin party dress’ from designer Rebecca Taylor at Harvey Nichols. And with my sparkly pink diamante eyelashes from Selfridges and face rhinestones on, I was ready to go. I realised ten minutes into the party that in fact my dress was the perfect Chambord dark raspberry colour, and quietly congratulated myself on this clever coincidence.

Chambord is used in more cocktails than you’d think, and despite the strong flavour it goes excellently with other fruity liqueurs and mixers. My favourite use for it is to colour other drinks, like making your own pink champagne! The cocktails made at this event were the winning recipes from competitions, my favourite was the fresh and fruity Belle Poire.

The cocktails were great but my favourite part of the evening was dancing the night away with my brilliant dance partner.

Hot on the Highstreet Week 1

My mum suggested this weekly post advertising a hip, fashion forward highstreet buy. So here goes Week 1 - Nails Inc's HAYMARKET nail varnish.

You may have noticed the Sold Out Chanel Nouvelle Vague being flashed on lucky nails around the city. This Chanel Limited Edition Nail varnish pictured below (centre) was sold out within hours of hitting the shops, and at £17, it's not cheap.

I have tried both the Chanel and Nails Inc's alternative, and if anything the Nails Inc version is more glossy, and only requires one coat. Nails Inc also have great offers on their products - in Harvey Nichols at the moment they are selling 3 nail varnishes for £20. So instead of queuing for hours for the Chanel pricey option buy Nails Inc HAYMARKET for a fraction of the price from the comfort of your own home, get it on the website here for £9.45.
